CELLI GROUP: LEADING THE FIGHT TO #BEATAIRPOLLUTION ONE WATER DISPENSER AT A TIME
Throughout the developed world, bottled water is more popular than ever before.
However, the transportation of single-use plastic bottles comes at a cost to both the individual and environment, not least in the form of air pollution - as highlighted at this year’s World Environment Day.
This is why Celli Group is pioneering the development of mains fed water dispensers that deliver quality filtered drinking water without the air pollution that comes with food miles. Moving food and other goods from producer to consumer carries more than just a financial cost. As studies produced for World Environment Day show, transport related emissions are linked to nearly 400,000 premature deaths worldwide.
Worryingly, the global transport sector accounts for almost one-quarter of energy-related carbon dioxide emissions and this proportion is continuing to grow rapidly.
For example, a recent study by the Continental Autocarro Research Centre showed that in Italy during January 2019, transport related emissions increased by 3.5%.
The need for sustainable water dispense solutions
Consumption of bottled water is at its highest in Italy, where it is estimated that two out of every one-hundred trucks on the road carries bottled water.
Of course, Italy is not alone in this regard.
Elsewhere across Europe, bottled water consumption is increasing, and as most brands are linked to a specific location or country, bottles are regularly and repeatedly transported across regional and national borders; journeys that sometimes stretch to thousands of kilometres. And so, to help reduce the amount of bottled water that is repeatedly moved by road, and in turn contribute towards improved air quality for everyone, Celli Group is committed to delivering a range of greener and more sustainable mains fed water dispensers for the home, work, leisure places and public spaces, through its Cosmetal, Acqua Alma and Fonte Alma brands.
The prize is clear: in Italy alone, if just 15% of those who regularly consume bottled water were to switch to mains dispensed water, the reduction in trucks on the road would deliver a 0.5% reduction in transport-generated CO2 emissions.
To support its ongoing sustainability mission, Celli Group guarantees the highest standards of product quality and support, creates cutting-edge digital platforms to integrate and implement its offer, and continues to set the agenda with trade initiatives such as Acqua Alma for the HoReCa sector.
The aim throughout is to help bring clean mains fed drinking water to everyone and to meet the challenge of air pollution and other environmental issues head on, so that we and future generations alike can enjoy this most precious natural resource, as well as the wider benefits of a climate safe world.
